Breast Augmentation

If you have dreamed of having a sexy, curvaceous bustline; soft, feminine curves; or extra confidence about your figure, breast augmentation at our Mexico City practice might be the right choice for you. This popular cosmetic procedure is designed to give you the full, shapely breasts that you may not have been given by nature. Breast enlargement can also restore breasts that have been affected by pregnancy or the aging process.

The Breast Augmentation Procedure

The breast augmentation procedure begins with incisions made under your arms, around your nipples, or under your breasts. Naturally shaped, sterile, saline-filled breast implants are then gently inserted into the breasts. The implants are placed either under or over your chest muscles, depending on which position Dr. Ayala believes to be best in your particular case. Dr. Ayala will then reposition the nipple as necessary to achieve the most natural-looking effect. Pregnant women or those who are considering becoming pregnant who also plan to breastfeed should discuss their situations with Dr. Ayala during the first consultation. Some breast implantation techniques can be performed without harming the ability to breastfeed.

Breast Augmentation Recovery

After breast augmentation surgery and as your breasts heal, you will experience some swelling, bruising, reduced nipple sensitivity, and general discomfort, but these side effects will diminish within a few weeks. Breast augmentation at our Mexico City plastic surgery center is typically an outpatient procedure. Patients can generally resume daily activities within two to three weeks after the operation.

Breast Lift

Gravity, pregnancy, and weight gain or loss can all have a significant effect on your breasts – they can destroy natural elasticity and eventually cause your breasts to droop, stretch, or sag. Breast lift, or mastopexy, can virtually turn back the clock by restoring your breasts' elasticity and positioning.

The Breast Lift Procedure

A breast lift, available to our San Diego and Mexico City -area patients, involves a few incisions made in various areas of the breast site: one around the areola (the dark-pigmented skin surrounding the nipple), one from the bottom of the areola to the underside of the breast, and, in some instances, one that runs horizontally along the natural crease under the breast. After the incisions are made, Dr. Gustavo Ayala will trim away any extra fat, skin, or tissue. Once the excess has been removed, Dr. Ayala will tighten the remaining tissue and, if necessary, will also reposition the areola or make it smaller for the most natural, aesthetic result.

Breast Lift Recovery

Side effects of breast lift surgery include some scarring, bruising, swelling, general discomfort, and loss of sensitivity in the breasts. Most of these side effects are temporary and usually subside within a few weeks' time as the breasts heal; however, permanent loss of breast sensation is one risk factor involved in the procedure. A breast lift for our Mexico City and San Diego patients typically takes less than two hours to complete, and patients can usually get back to their normal daily routines after about a week. Additionally, breast lift surgery should not affect your ability to breastfeed, although pregnant women or women who are considering pregnancy and breastfeeding should discuss this risk thoroughly with Dr. Ayala at the initial consultation.

Breast Reduction

Not only can overly large breasts make you feel insecure about your body, but they can also be uncomfortable. They may limit the selection of clothes that you can wear, require you to choose sturdy bras that can leave deep indentations in the shoulders, or make exercise – and even everyday activities – difficult. A breast reduction from our Mexico City plastic surgeon is a cosmetic procedure designed to relieve women of the burden of having disproportionate breasts.

The Breast Reduction Procedure

During the breast reduction procedure, Dr. Gustavo Ayala will make incisions around the areola (the dark area surrounding the nipple), down to the crease underneath the breast, and across the breast. He will gently remove excess fat, tissue, and skin and then carefully tighten the remaining skin. Doing so serves to position your newly proportionate breasts in more flattering locations. Dr. Ayala will also make the areola smaller and shift it into the most natural-looking position.

Breast Reduction Recovery

The breast reduction procedure typically takes about three hours to complete and produces only minimal scars. Some common side effects of breast reduction include swelling, bruising, and discomfort, but they will subside as your breasts begin to heal – usually within four weeks' time. The procedure will most likely not affect your ability to breastfeed, although women who are pregnant or are considering becoming pregnant and who plan to breastfeed should discuss all possibilities with Dr. Ayala at the initial consultation. After breast reduction surgery, patients should avoid heavy lifting for several weeks. Most patients can return to work within about two weeks.

Breast Reconstruction

Mastectomy, an important, life-saving technique designed to treat those suffering from breast cancer, can leave women feeling very self-conscious about their appearances. Breast deformities, too, can have the same effect. But with breast reconstruction, you can regain your beautiful, symmetrical curves – and feel more secure about your appearance. Completed in stages over a period of six months or so, breast reconstruction allows us to create natural-looking breasts out of the patient's own tissue or to insert realistic-looking breast implants carefully.

Each treatment plan is completely personalized to suit the patient's needs. There are a number of different techniques available for breast reconstruction, including some breast augmentation procedures. Dr. Gustavo Ayala will discuss your options with you at your consultation, and together you can decide on the type of reconstruction that is best for you. Breast reconstruction can completely rebuild your bustline with natural-appearing breasts that are proportionate to your body frame and that look and feel good. Dr. Ayala understands the pain and self-consciousness that patients who have undergone mastectomy can go through. With a skilled hand and compassionate care, he is prepared to help you renew your bustline and rejuvenate your self-confidence.
